Weekly specials include woodshop, art, music, science, garden, foreign language, and sports.
SRV's wooded, nine and a half acre campus provides a rich backdrop for exploration and interaction with the natural world.
As a progressive private school, SRV values a child's social, emotional, and physical development just as much as their growth intellectually and academically.
SRV’s kitchen staff prepares lunch fresh each day that features vegetables harvested from the School’s 3,000 square foot garden and greenhouse. Other ingredients are sourced from local farms and SRV’s hens produce approximately 100 eggs per week for use in our School lunch program.
Education begins with a child's natural curiosity.
Preschool - The Preschool program at SRV promotes students’ independence, autonomy, and sense of community. Like every SRV student, our preschoolers are encouraged to create, explore, follow their passions, and play with energy and enthusiasm.
Kindergarten - Kindergarten is a magical time in a child’s life. Students learn to love school while developing skills of independence, critical thinking, conflict resolution, and collaboration through hands-on, contextual experiences.
Primary Circle (1st & 2nd Grade) - Students thrive in SRV’s child-centered classrooms with small group instruction and individual attention. Students regularly pursue their own interests in collaboration with their peers with guidance from their teachers.
Middle Circle (3rd & 4th Grade) - Third and fourth grade students are ready to take on new challenges as they delve into academic subjects deeply and with enthusiasm. Students develop their passions, question each other and their teachers, and are fully invested community members.
Oldest Group (5th & 6th Grade) - An elementary school setting is appropriate for young people to consolidate their academic, social/emotional, and skills of independence before moving on to middle school. Academically, students are well prepared to move on to their next school setting.

Because the elementary years are so disproportionately formative–there is simply no better investment in your child’s future.
I had the privilege of attending a fine college and graduate school. I had wonderful experiences at both institutions. There is no question, however, that whatever virtues I possess, whatever joy I claim, owes far more to SRV than to those august institutions.”
“There is no greater gift that you could give your child.
